Finaly finished Lost. Unfortunately the files I downloaded were mislabeled and I ended up watching part 2 of episode 16 before part 1. :? It was still a decent ending, nothing mind blowing but it did the job. I'll probably have to watch it again in the right order sometime soon.

It's a return to good Nolan. Despite all the hype and bandwagoning, it really is an incredible film. Stylistically, its more akin to The Prestige, but the plot is just as good if not better than Momento.

There are a couple of holes in the story, and it does happen to have some generic Hollywood moments (unnecessary wisecracks, some visuals over-the-top), but otherwise its the best film to come out of Hollywood in a while. However, despite it being a film about dreams, don't expect the surreal mastery of Kubrick and Aranofsky. He keeps it pretty down-to-earth, which is a little disappointing as well.

What kind of holes are you talking about? I'm not saying there aren't any, but I'm curious to hear what ones you noticed. Also, I think I enjoyed the film a lot more until I realized it was a giant metaphor for film making. Ugh. Like you said, I wanted it more over-the-top.

Just finished re-watching The Shield.

The absolute biggest hole is:

Why on earth would the son, and then owner, of one of the world's largest leading energy company not recognize the biggest rival, by far, to their company, not only in real life, but in the 3 different layers of the dreams, and not suspect anything?

You know, I didn' think there were any holes, but that actually is a damn good one. Good catch.

The Book of Eli - Derivative propaganda. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but there's really nothing else to it.

Although I also personally wouldn't rate it 5/5, I'm interested in hearing your reasoning for 4/5.

Umm... I enjoyed it?

I dunno. I just had a good time watching it. It easily kept my attention and I didn't feel bored once or wonder what time it was (which I do almost constantly while watching movies, even ones I'm enjoying). Pretty much everything was top notch, from the concept, to the acting, to the visuals. I didn't find the film to be too deep though, like maybe one level deep. Not three levels deep like some claim it to be. It was pretty straightforward for the most part with only minor complexities. Not hard to follow at all. I didn't give it 5/5 cause I didn't get up afterwards and freak out like holy fucking shit like I did with Trainspotting, Scarface, Fight Club, or Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974). If it was a deeper film I may have given it a 5 (yeah, I know, those four movies I mentioned aren't deep, maybe FC a little). Oh, and while I wasn't expecting the twist toward the end (not the very end), it didn't really blow me away.

3/5's are basically movies that I enjoyed but probably wouldn't bother to watch again unless they're on TV and I'm really bored. This I would definitely watch a second time. Maybe even in the theater again. Definitely a step up from his shitty Batman movies. Overall awesome live action Duck Tales movie.

Two hot chicks also helps. I've had a thing for Ellen Page (who is fucking gorgeous in this) since Juno and Marion Cotillard goes without saying.

I'm bad at explaining why I liked films.

Watched Lawrence Fishburne's daughter Montana's porno debut. I wasn't impressed, although I suppose I set my expectations higher than I should have.

I saw Scott Pilgrim on Saturday. I didn't read the comics or anything so i was going in there dry, but I heard enough good things to give it a chance. And it was awesome. I was really impressed that Miichael Cera wasn't Michael Cera. Maybe he's finally breaking out of his typecast between this and the last movie where he had a moustache.

And I saw the Expendables yesterday. I definitely set my expectations waaaaay too high for this movie. A good chunk of the stars mentioned had very minor parts. Arnold and Bruce had two small roles at the same time, though it was prett cool to see them and Stallone on screen at the same time. Steve Austin had like one line of Stone Cold-esque dialog, and for most of the movie, was just somewhere in the background. Dolph and Jet Li were pretty good in their parts and were pretty important when they were on screen, but they just weren't around that much. Mickey Rourke.... was fine, I guess. Terry Crews was fuckin amazing when he was shining. And Stallone and Jason Statham were the 2 mains and did a pretty good job. They had pretty good chemistry. Though after becoming the biggest Crank fanboy in the history of ever, it was a little weird to see Statham go back into a "normal" role. But when it was all said and done, I really liked it.

I've been thinking about this for 24 hours and I've come to a conclusion. 5/5 NetFlix stars.
